Possible to print without filament?

or will it damage something? I just want to test something without waste filament.

One concern is that if there is any filament residue left in the nozzle or heater block, it will cook and carbonize. This will foul up the hot-end and can cause jamming in the future.
I have lots of leftover filament laying around that's too short for regular print. I use that to test things out without using a regular spool.
If you still want to print w/o filament, use a low temperature  (say 190c) and try not to take too long to test

Thanks, I will use filament then. I need long prints for testing...
